2018 Schedule of Events!

Thursday, July 19

9:00am – 5:00pm – Chalk the Walks – Visit your favorite downtown businesses for great shopping and more! Many businesses will have sidewalk chalk and art related activities throughout the weekend.

9:00am – 5:00pm – What is Art? – Visit participating downtown businesses, write down what art is to you on the provided flyer, and upload a picture of you with the flyer to Instagram with the hashtag #LibertyArtsFest. The flyers will be posted in businesses throughout the event and you could be featured on our social media sites!

10:00am – 3:00pm – Grundy County Historical Society and Museum – 510 W. Illinois Avenue – Stop by for a sneak peak of the new addition and view local art by area students, celebrating the Illinois Bicentennial.

 11:00am – 7:00pm – Century 21 Steak Fry – Corner of Washington & Franklin – Sponsored by Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby to benefit Micro Pantries.

2:00pm – 4:00pm – Create a Car for Friday’s “Drive-In” Movie – Morris Area Public Library – 604 Liberty St. – Kid’s will have fun creating a car to bring to Friday’s outdoor movie! Unable to attend? Visit and learn how to make one yourself!

5:15 pm – 6:15pm – Artistic Pets Photo Contest! – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn – Stop by and vote on the photo of the most artistic pet! Interested in nominating your pet? Submit a photo of your pet on our Facebook event page “Liberty Arts Festival Artistic Pets Photo Contest.”  Your pet must be in its best artistic form (painting, dancing, singing, etc.), or admiring their favorite piece of artwork. Judges from Bone-ifide Pet Care and Blackbird’s Bowl will select the top five finalists and prizes will be awarded to the top three pets!

6:30pm – 9:00pm – Liberty Arts Festival Paint and Sip – Happy Daisy Art Studio – 106 W. Washington – Escape into some art therapy at Happy Daisy Art Studio! Bring your drink of choice and learn to paint ‘Colors of the Wind’ on a 16×20 canvas. Artist/Owner Jillianne Renee will teach it step by step and paint along with you. Tickets are $35 and must be reserved. Call Jillianne at 630-448-2278 or stop in the studio to pay!

6:30pm – 8:30pm – City of Morris – Concert on the Courthouse Lawn
 – River Road Trio. Come enjoy their smooth harmonies and soul stirring lyrics. Rain location is the Morris High School Auditorium.

Friday, July 20

10:30am – Storybook Character Parade – Meet at Morris Area Public Library – 604 Liberty Street – Children and parents are invited to dress like their favorite storybook character illustrations and parade from the library to the courthouse!

11:00am – 3:00pm – “Creator’s Village” – Courthouse Lawn – Pick up your Creators Village Passport in the “Greeting Booth” and let your adventure begin! Kids of all ages can express their creativity with a variety of mediums. Be sure to have your passport stamped in each booth to receive a prize to take home with your bag full of art projects!

11:00am – 4:00pm Train Rides – Boarding at the Grundy County Courthouse – $3.00 per ride will benefit the Christian Youth Center of Morris.

11:30am – 1:30pm – Grundy Bank’s Brown Bag Friday – Courthouse Lawn – featuring Mary Pfeifer.

Noon – 3:00pm – Face Painting – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn – Free!

Noon – 3:00pm – Caricatures – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn – $5.00 per person.

1:30pm – Donna Mueller’s School of Dance – Grundy County Courthouse – Don’t miss the Pizazz Dancers!

2:00pm – Morris High School Poms – You won’t want to miss this performance by the State Runner Up Morris Poms!

1:30pm – 4:00pm – Ice Cream Social – Grundy Bank Courtyard – Stop by for some ice cream and enter the coloring contest to win a basket full of art supplies! And you won’t want to miss the clown/balloon artist!

4:00pm – 6:00pm Vinyl Record Experience – Clayton’s Tap – 122 W. Washington – General musical shenanigans for vinyl collectors, music lovers, or those curious about starting a vinyl collection. A celebration of all things vinyl, come for prizes, photo booth, DIY and special musical guests. All donations go to the “Save The Music Foundation”. Don’t forget to pick up your vinyl record passport at the Liberty Street Café (511 Liberty) beginning Monday, July 16!

8:30pm – “Moana” – Drive-In Movie – Goold Park Band Shell – Yes, a drive-in movie is coming to Morris! That is if you choose to make your own cardboard car! (See Thursday’s activities at the library or make your own). Of course, everyone is invited to bring their own blankets or chairs to enjoy the “grand opening” of the Morris Drive-In! Free popcorn will be available, compliments of Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby.

Saturday, July 21

9:00am – 10:00am – Zumba at the Courthouse – Music and dance will come downtown early this morning! Instruction provided by Limitless Fitness.

10:00am – 4:00pm – Art Walk – Washington Street one block east and west of Liberty, and Liberty north of Washington Street – Visit the Fine Art Walk and separate Maker’s Market. The Fine Art Walk is juried and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will have ribbons displayed.

10:00am – 3:00pm – Grundy County Historical Society and Museum – 510 W. Illinois Avenue – See Thursday’s listing.

11:00am – 12:00pm – Forte Arts Center – Be entertained by the Magical Moments special needs students, music students, as well as members of the Forte Arts Center performing groups.

11:00am – 4:00pm – Plein-Air Class & PaintingGrundy County Courthouse Lawn – Presented by the Morris Watercolor Guild, Watercolorist Bob Holmes will demonstrate and provide assistance to participants. Please bring your own watercolor supplies, easel, chair, sunscreen & bug spray. Cost is $20 dollars cash, paid on the day of class. Class will be limited to 20 participants. Lunch will be on your own. Picnic tables and food vendors will be nearby. Those attending the Liberty Arts Festival will have the opportunity to see “art in action”. Rain location, First United Methodist Church, 118 W. Jackson.

11:00am 4:00pm Culinary Arts Food and Chef Demos – Parking lot on the southwest corner of Main and Franklin – Culinary Arts at its best! Some of the area’s best chefs will give demonstrations. Additionally, samples of their delicious creations, as well as those from unique food vendors, will be available for purchase.

11:00am – 4:00pm – Sip ‘N’ Shop – Visit your favorite Morris retailers and sample great cocktails while shopping! Pick up your complimentary glass and list of participating stores in front of the Grundy County Courthouse. Don’t miss this opportunity to wet your “pallet” during the Liberty Arts Festival! You will also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite cocktail! The three stores with the most votes will receive a donation to their favorite charity!

10:00am 2:00pm & 2:30 – 7:00 – Train Rides -Boarding at the Grundy County Courthouse from 10:00 – 2:00 and Goold Park from 2:30 – 7:00 (during Shine Music Fest) – $3.00 per ride will benefit the Christian Youth Center of Morris.

Noon Selections from “Newsies” – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn – Enjoy musical selections from Small Town Theatrics’ summer production! Visit for more information.

1:00pm – 7:30pm – Shine Music Fest – Goold Park Band Shell – Be uplifted by a variety of contemporary Christian musicians. Reserve free tickets on Facebook or Event Brite. Headliner, “Consumed By Fire” at 6:00pm. Art activities, bounce house, henna tattoos and face painting. Free pizza After Party for teens. Rain location is Morris High School Auditorium, 1000 Union Street.

1:30pm – 2:30pm – Natalie Colleen Arwood – Grundy County Courthouse Stage – Don’t miss this young vocalist!

2:00pm 3:00pm Madison Grace – Grundy County Courthouse Stage – You won’t want to miss Madison’s acoustic guitar with pop, soul and rock vocals!

4:00pm 6:00pm Concert – “Generation” – Grundy County Courthouse Lawn – Back by popular demand! You will love their powerful renditions of your classic rock and soul favorites. Rain location is Living Water Church of the Nazarene, 118 E. Jefferson.
